How to use your life goals list
- Make it yours. Swap or rewrite any goal that is someone else's dream.
- Choose one to three to start. The rest are a map, not a to-do list.
- Make each one specific: what, by when, and how you will know it is done. Research has long found that specific, challenging goals lead to better performance than "do your best" (Locke & Latham, 2002).
- Plan the first step: when and where you will do it this week.
- Review every three months. Goals change as you do.

Questions
What are life goals?
Life goals are the things you want to do, become or give over a long time: in your health, relationships, work, money, learning, adventures, creativity, giving, inner life and home. They give direction to everyday choices.
How many life goals should I have?
A list of 10 to 20 life goals is a good start, but focus on only one to three at a time. Use the rest as a map, not a to-do list.
How do I turn a life goal into action?
Pick one goal, make it specific (what, by when), choose the first small step you can do this week, and decide when and where you will do it. Review your list every few months.
Is my list saved?
No. The generator runs in your browser and nothing is sent or stored. Copy or print your list to keep it.
Are these goals right for everyone?
No. They are ideas to spark your own. Swap any goal that does not fit, rewrite it in your own words, and delete anything that is someone else's dream rather than yours.
General wellbeing ideas, not medical, psychological or financial advice. If you are struggling, see crisis help. Nothing you do on this page is sent or stored.
