How the journal is written

Last updated 3 November 2026.

The rules every article on the For No Reason journal follows: who writes, how facts are checked, how we use AI, and how to report a mistake.

Who writes

Articles are published under the byline of the Chief, the founder's pen name. He sets the topics, the voice and the rules on this page. He is not a doctor, psychologist or financial adviser, and the journal never pretends otherwise.

How we use AI

We use AI writing tools (for example Anthropic's Claude) to help research topics, find studies, outline and draft articles. We say so openly because you deserve to know. A tool never has the last word on facts: before an article is published, every study it cites is checked against its official record (for papers with a DOI, the authors, title and year are checked against Crossref), and every figure from a public body (such as the WHO or the US National Institute of Mental Health) is checked against the live source page. Claims we cannot trace to a source are cut.

Sources

Health, money and safety

Everything in the journal is general wellbeing information, not medical, psychological or financial advice. Articles on health suggest asking a doctor when in doubt. Articles that touch on loneliness, low mood or crisis include crisis help lines; the full list is on our safety page.

Independence

No ads, no sponsored articles, no affiliate links, and no payment for coverage. The journal does invite readers to request to join the paid membership; that is how For No Reason is funded, and the About page explains it.

Photos

We use only real photographs under free licences (such as CC0 and CC BY-SA), credited on each article and on the photo credits page. No AI-generated images. Stock photos are never presented as our members.

Updates and corrections

When we change an article in a meaningful way, we update its "modified" date. If you spot an error, write to hello@fornoreason.app with the word "Correction" and the page address. We check every report and fix confirmed mistakes promptly.
